During our sessions with adult learners, we noticed that even small changes can make a big difference for inclusion: breaking instructions into 3 steps, giving examples first, and allowing extra time for reading/writing. Learners were more confident to participate and asked more questions. Also, learners with learning difficulties don’t necessarily need “simpler content” - they need clearer structure. Short tasks, predictable routines, and visual support help adults stay engaged without feeling singled out.
GUIDE - Facilitating training of Adults with Learning Difficulties for professional development
The project focused on making adult education more inclusive and accessible for adults with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, ADHD, dyspraxia and dyscalculia. It addressed the lack of adapted training pathways and practical methodologies in adult education by introducing microlearning as an inclusive pedagogical approach. Through transnational cooperation, the project developed the GUIDE microlearning methodology, a practical toolkit, inclusive lesson plans and an online platform for adult educators. Adults with learning difficulties were actively involved in the design of resources, sharing their experiences and learning strategies through vidcasts. The project strengthened the competences of adult educators, supported learners’ confidence and participation, and promoted flexible, learner-centred approaches that can be adapted across different European adult education contexts.

The GUIDE – Facilitating Training of Adults with Learning Difficulties for Professional Development project has produced a range of resources aimed at supporting inclusive adult education.
Project results include a microlearning-based methodology, lesson plans, a trainer toolkit, an e-learning platform, and vidcast materials that address learning needs related to dyslexia, ADHD, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia.
While the project implementation phase has concluded, the materials remain available for continued use and adaptation in adult learning contexts. Community members are invited to explore the resources and consider how inclusive approaches can be integrated into their own educational practices.
The GUIDE website, project-guide.eu, opens like an invitation rather than a manual. From the first glance, it sets a calm and welcoming tone, guiding visitors gently through the project’s world instead of overwhelming them with information. The structure is clear, the language is simple, and the content is broken into short, meaningful sections that quietly reflect the microlearning philosophy behind GUIDE.
Learners’ voices, practical tools and visual elements are easy to find, giving the feeling that the website was built for real people with real learning needs. It feels less like a project archive and more like a small, living learning space — a place where educators can explore, adults with learning difficulties can recognise themselves, and the project’s inclusive spirit continues well beyond the funding period.
The project in a nutshell: The project addressed a long-standing gap in adult education by focusing on adults with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, ADHD, dyspraxia and dyscalculia, who are often excluded from lifelong learning and professional development opportunities. It introduced an inclusive microlearning approach that transforms complex training content into short, accessible and cognitively manageable learning units.
Through transnational cooperation, the partnership developed the GUIDE microlearning methodology, a practical toolkit, learner-led vidcasts, inclusive lesson plans and an open e-platform for adult educators. Adults with learning difficulties were actively involved in shaping the results, ensuring that real learning needs and lived experiences informed educational design.
