The Innovation Lab (i-Lab) at Emphasys Centre in Nicosia, Cyprus, has officially opened its doors. Part of the InvesTECH project, the i-Lab is a modern learning space designed to support Vocational Education and Training (VET) learners, educators, and local partners in developing digital, technical, and creative skills.

The lab features three dedicated spaces: a STEAM Lab with hands-on technology and prototyping tools, a conference room with interactive boards and audio-visual equipment for meetings and hybrid sessions, and a recording studio for podcasts and video creation. The environment is bright, flexible, and designed to foster collaboration, experimentation, and innovation.

Learners and educators will have access to tools such as 3D printers, VR kits, microcontroller kits, and laptops, as well as digital collaboration software like Miro, Mural, and Microsoft Teams. The lab also includes materials for creative activities and prototyping, making it a true hub for learning by doing.

Beyond its role in education, the i-Lab will serve as a community hub, welcoming local organisations, businesses, and youth groups to collaborate on projects, workshops, and events. Emphasys Centre plans to keep the lab active after the project ends, integrating it into ongoing VET programs, updating tools as needed, and sharing best practices to inspire similar initiatives across Cyprus.

The launch of the i-Lab marks an important step in modernizing vocational education, equipping learners with the skills and confidence needed for a rapidly changing digital world, and fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and collaboration in Cyprus.
