Chargement de la carte...
Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • The focus of the seminar is the role of professionals who have to deal with this issue in their daily activities. How do they deal with situations, what are their needs, what do they need? What are success factors and good methods, practices that really helps professionals in education?

This seminar will build upon the outcomes of the German Seminar on Refugees in April in Essen and the International Conference "Migration - Integration: Schools Manage Diversity!" in May in Bonn. The Amsterdam seminar will focus further on the role of professionals. How do schools, teacher teams, guidance professionals, volunteers in adult education deal with the pressure, the tensions coming from outside from all kinds of corners to their class rooms, school environment and neighbourhoods.

The conference wants to focus not on the organisational / practical dimensions but on the professional competences, attitudes, mind sets, values needed to create a safe and secure climate for learning and teaching at school in class, for teachers and learners, and outside school. The refugees crisis has an enormous impact on pupils, students, teachers, parents, counsellors.

How do they deal with this? Is it something that should be discussed in the class and should it be initiated by a teacher? Do teachers in formal, non-formal and informal education discuss amongst themselves how to deal with it? What to do as a manager? What to do when there are all kind of tensions and feelings of unsafety at school, in classes, between different groups, between migrants and others and between different migrant groups. Pupils, students and their parents, do they talk about it? What about the role of the press and social media? How to advise worried parents or how to deal with aggressive situations in this context?

Participants should be experts because of their practical experience in their country to make an exchange possible and identify good practices and pitfalls possibly leading to transnational cooperation to work on an Erasmus+ application for KA1 Mobility or KA2 Strategic Partnerships.

The number of participants is limited to 40 (max 3 per country).

The Dutch NA will cover all costs for the conference, the accommodation and catering. Participants only have to cover their travel expenses themselves and may ask their NA for TCA funding for their travel.
