According to surveys that highlighted several skills that are especially important to an intern’s success in a virtual setting.
First, interns need to be proactive about communicating. It's easier to disappear from your boss' radar when you're just a name on a screen. They also need time management skills, since there is nothing stopping them from wasting a couple of hours watching Netflix each day. For those with chaotic home lives, carving out the time and space to work could prove especially challenging,
Additionally, interns need a level of tech savvy and adaptability to adjust to unfamiliar situations. Even students acclimated to a semester of remote schoolwork might not be totally comfortable in a more formal work environment.
Some personality types might be at a disadvantage: It’s easier for interns who are quiet to isolate themselves, which makes it more difficult for them to become "known."
What's your opinion?

Iris Bos I agree with the feelings expressed in the text but i also think companies should be more proactive in involving interns in many activities. Sometimes companies for example expect interns to have a far higher level of knowledge than they actually do and to adapt too quickly. Moreover a lot of experienced employees who supervise the intern usually do the mistake of assuming the intern has as much experience as they do. Consequently it should be a two way process: both the intern and the company should be proactive in making the relationship work. vor 4 Jahren

Iris Bos Ah okay Antonio interesting point. I never heard about this until now. Have you thought about buying your own desk or is that not possible yet? Yes I understand that not having your own workplace lowers productivity.

Okay Randolph interesting find. Do you think it's a sign of unprofessional-ism to for example message someone when they are on leisure time on Skype? Or do you think that person might be thinking: "Well this person is in leisure time but she will read my email afterwards".

Antonio Dear Iris thank you for your reply and feedback. Regrettably it is more a question of space, as of there is not enough space for a new and personal desk. It was only a temporary situation and now I am typing from my own desk in another apartment, but I felt it was an important element to be highlighted. vor 4 Jahren
