With the current economic downturn generated by the COVID19 pandemic companies are cutting costs and laying off or furloughing existing employees. Consequently it is difficult for interns to find internship opportunities. Nevertheless virtual internships could provide both the company and the intern with an advantage.

Companies could assign interns to fulfill some of the extra tasks that were done by fired or furloughed employees. Interns can also do tasks that are too time consuming for existing employees to do while working from home. At the same time interns can get a better hands on approach to entrepreneurship since they are involved in extra tasks.

What is your opinion? Does hiring an intern during the COVID19 pandemic worth it for a company?

Iris Bos Polyxeni: Yes I agree. Teaching interns can be time consuming. But I also think that if they teach the intern properly they can delegate some tasks to him over the long run. vor 4 Jahren
