The call for LifeLong Learning Awards 2018 has been launched. In 2016, the Lifelong Learning Platform launched the LifeLong Learning Awards to celebrate creative and inclusive practices. The aim of the Lifelong Learning Award is to give visibility to innovative practices taking place all over Europe in order to attract public attention on lifelong learning as well as to inspire new practices and policies. The Lifelong Learning Platform (LLLP) will select each year its annual specific priority that can be linked to the European year if the theme is relevant.
The focus of the third edition of the LLL Awards edition is the potential of European culture to boost the major transformation we seek in our society, tackling different aspects on how this technological development is affecting and transforming education practices. The aim will be to award three initiatives in three different categories, as follows:
Topics
- Learning environments: Practices in this first sub-theme will discuss the role of lifelong learning in ensuring that all learning environments are taken into account when formulating European policies in education and training. Best practices in informal and non-formal settings are very welcome, in order to understand the magnitude of those environments when developing transversal competences, as well as proposals for policy reforms that keep into account the unique role of lifelong learning in fostering key competences.
- Validation, recognition and accreditation: The role of lifelong learning and culture to bridge the gaps between theory and practice is acknowledged worldwide. Practices submitted in this sub-topic will lean upon the different skills sets that inform the Key Competences and will put forward interesting tools to validate these skills sets. The sub-topic can as well be understood through the lense of cultural diversity. Variety of target groups is welcome, from all age groups, as well as disadvantaged background as primary beneficiaries of the tools. A particular emphasis shall be placed to enable culture actors to have a say when assessing transversal competences.
- Holistic approaches to active citizenship through education and culture: Practices submitted under this heading shall lean upon how culture-based competences can contribute to create active citizens. A particular focus shall be placed on cultural awareness, learning to learn and social and civic competences as fosterous of self-awareness and personal development within societies. Best practices presented should link education and culture to a renewed active citizenship and, if desired, European identity.
