The International Conference on Learning Cities, organized by UNESCO and the authorities of the host city, provides an platform for mayors, city education executives and experts from all over the world to communicate their expertise in building learning cities, learn from others’ experiences, forge partnerships and create synergies.

The goal of the conference is to take stock of the achievements and continue the expansion of services for the construction of sustainable learning cities worldwide with the aim of contributing to social cohesion, besides economic and environmental sustainability. It will be an opportunity for cities around the world to share their experiences in the process of building themselves as learning cities, know the experiences of others, forge alliances and create synergies. The Conference will inspect the progress in building learning cities in communities around the world and their progress in the establishment and expansion of the Global Network of Learning Cities from the 1st ICLC held in Beijing. Finally, the Conference will recognize and reward the efforts of those cities that have made exemplary progress in implementing the approach of learning cities.
