We would like to invite you to an open online consultation that eucen is organising on Thursday, 15 March at 15:00CET on the topic of integration of cultural diversity into higher education.
The activity is being held in the context of the HE4u2 project, coordinated by eucen and aiming to make teaching and learning in HE more diverse, responsive and competitive by integrating inclusive pedagogies into existing curricula.
The project has so far:
- Produced a meta-analysis of best practices from relevant research and tools across
- Surveyed learners and tested interventions in 21 curricula at different HE levels to integrate an intercultural support dimension
- Released a set of Guidelines for academics and non-academics on how to create intercultural learning environments
- Created a generic CPD course structure for HE staff working with migrant and ethnic minorities (soon available on the project website)

Hi Randolph, this is very interesting, thanks! I have changed the settings so you should be able to upload files now.
Hi Francesca, I'm currently working on an Erasmus+ project on digital literacy. We are building a MOOC and have delivered a series of train-the-trainer sessions (the trainers are migrants too). During the latter one we were able to gather some important insights in migrant's use of digital skills, including differences to our culture. We produced a paper on this topic, which I can share here. But you have to enable file sharing option for this discussion. For example we found out that migrants / refugees are very active towards accumulating social capital in the target country. In particular young people set up huge number of profiles on social networks like facebook and twitter. And many of them even have become experts in this kind of activity. We are currently building an online course module, in which we try to stimulate reflection on this practice, which appears to be quite unusual in our culture. Also we found out that younger migrants have found their own way to explore our...
Within higher education there is a clear need for training teachers working with migrant students, to reform the delivery of support for these learners, integrating at the same time an intercultural dimension for all learners. Our project HE4u2 aims to develop an approach to the intercultural dimension of existing curricula, CPD courses for staff, and policy recommendations focusing on the curricula and the teachers of adults in HE, who often provide access for disadvantaged groups, are student-centred, have specialised support and are linked to regional agencies. We have just published the second project newsletter where you can find the latest updates on the project activities and steps accomplished so far. What is your experience with trying to integrate cultural diversity in your everyday teaching practice? he4u2.eucen.eu/

Just uploaded a new case study, which has been produced within the framework of the European UPTAKE ICT project. The Erasmus+ project promotes actions, to analyse the impact of ICT in a fast changing world and, to build contents and instruments for digital inclusion.
The project with support of the European Union has developed a Mooc-enhanced course program, addressing a broad range of ICT-related skills and competences, needed to meet the demands of the digital society. The course program comprises a set of modular learning units, suitable for novice, advanced and experienced learners. It offers lessons on the use of computers, search engines and email services, how to use social media and build websites, but also how to program mobile applications. To name only a few.
In this case study we present the first findings from a series of trainings conducted in Germany. The purpose was to test and evaluate the course program with regard to...www.discuss-community.eu/library/migration-ethnic-…

Essay: Both refugees and native populations need to learn during the refugee crisis. Amina Hadžiomerović looks at how media can support refugees’ transition by providing learning content for both refugees and native citizens.
eucen has just launched its new project HE4u2 - Integrating Cultural Diversity in Higher Education. The project intends to reform teaching and learning in HE by integrating inclusive pedagogy into existing curricula to mediate obstacles for learners from migrant and culturally diverse backgrounds and to value their contributions to the intercultural dimension for all learners. The project (an ERASMUS+ Forward Looking Cooperation project) that started 01-Jan-16, will soon have a website and more info available. In the meantime, you can contact us at he4u2@eucen.eu
